Here’s an attempt at listing non-partisan priorities on health care.
What I think Americans want in a health care law:
What I think Americans want in a health care law:
- medical costs as low as possible, including drug costs
- personal choice of doctors and hospitals
-
medical decisions made by the patient and their doctor(s)
-
increase the number of people covered, with an eventual goal of covering everyone
-
coverage for preexisting conditions
-
keep our kids on parents plans as long as possible (25 seems reasonable right now)
-
no yearly or lifetime caps on coverage
-
the same kind of medical care that Congress gets
What I think Americans don’t want in a health care law:
- less people insured than at present
- increased costs, either in insurance or medical costs
Please feel free to suggest additions, agree or disagree.
Please let Congress know YOUR priorities — because if they are close to those listed above, the plan now working its way through the House will NOT do a good job on many of these.
And if you just want to focus on ONE thing, how about “we want everyone in the US to get the same health care that Congress gets!”
